    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – October 2024

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release includes multiple rich-text styling options for question titles, new activity reports for creators, and geofence location configuration in administrator accounts.


    1. Add Rich-Text Styling to Question Titles
      With our new rich-text editor, you can now customize the styling of question titles for a unique appearance across both web and mobile versions of Engage. Some of these styles include:

      • Bold, underline, and italicize words
      • Adjust the font color
      • Highlight text

    2. New Creator’s Activity Report – View Analytics of Your Activities
      As a creator, you can now access detailed reports of your personal activities, including analytics for standalone activities and those published in courses. Additionally, you can gain insights into participant engagement by reviewing reports for individual activities.

    3. Set Up the Default Geofence Locations for Your Institution
      As an administrator, you can now set up multiple geofence locations for your entire institution, allowing attendance creators to select from a predefined list of locations.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – September 2024

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides new analytical reports for activities, a live carousel view of short answer submissions, direct links to video tutorials to help create polls, and updates to the Engage add-on for PowerPoint and Keynotes.


    1. New Institution Report – View a Summary of Analytics for Activities on the Platform
      We have incorporated an at-a-glance summary of statistics for platform activities and engagement by tracking the total number of participants and responses. Engage IT managers can also access a comprehensive list of courses, with the option to view reports for each course to gain deeper insights.

    2. Live Carousel View of Short Answer Submissions
      As participants submit responses to short answer questions, a live, rotating carousel will be displayed, allowing creators to see all responses in a single view.

    3. New Course Report – View Course Analytics to Track Engagement Over Time
      Creators can monitor course engagement by tracking the total number of polls and attendance activities created, along with the number of responses participants have provided.

    4. New Standalone Report – View Analytics of Activities Not Released in a Course
      For activities not released within a course, creators can monitor their polls and attendance, allowing them to track and compare key metrics over time, such as the number of questions created and total participant engagement.

    5. New Activity Report – View Analytics for Specific Activities on the Platform
      The Activity report summarizes statistics for a selected poll or attendance, allowing creators to view associated questions and the total number of participants that completed the activity.

    6. Direct Links to Video Tutorials for Creating Poll Questions
      To assist new activity creators in understanding the various question types available on Engage, we have added direct links to video tutorials, offering step-by-step instructions on creating each question type.

    7. Engage PowerPoint Add-in and Keynotes: Import and Create Question Banks
      To ensure feature parity between the Engage web and desktop apps for PowerPoint and Keynote, creators can import questions from the Question Bank into their presentations or create a new Question Bank with their custom list of questions.

    8. Engage PowerPoint Add-in: The Activity Feed Provides a List of Live Participants
      We have updated the Engage PowerPoint add-in to align more closely with the web app by providing the Activity Feed panel, which displays a list of live participants joining the poll or attendance.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – July 2024

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides a combined workflow for surveys and polls, a new Open Discussion question type, the option to upload images as possible answers for matching questions, the option to save geofence locations, restore deleted activities, view videos in embedded polls during PowerPoint and Keynote presentations, manually stop scheduled polls, and the option for participants to view their results on the mobile app.

     

    1. Combined Survey Questions into Polls Providing Options for Graded and Ungraded Questions
      To streamline our process, we’ve combined the survey and poll activities. Polls will now include all question types and can be graded or left ungraded on a per-question basis.

    2. New Question Type: Open Discussion
      Engage now allows Creators to include the Open Discussion question in their polls. This new question type allows participants to freely express their thoughts and opinions without being graded.

    3. Upload Images as Possible Answers for Multiple-Choice Questions
      Creators can now upload images as answers for multiple-choice questions, allowing participants to choose from a list of possible images and text.

    5. Restore Deleted Activities from the Recycle Bin
      Creators can recover an activity from their Recycle Bin if it was accidentally deleted.

    6. Watch Embedded Videos in Polls During PowerPoint and Keynote Presentations
      Creators who embed videos in their polls and incorporate them into PowerPoint or Keynote presentations can showcase videos directly within their slides.

    7. Manually Stop Scheduled Polls
      Previously, scheduled polls would remain active until their end date. Now, scheduled polls can be manually stopped anytime by clicking the Stop Poll button.

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with the option to build polls and surveys by importing CSV files, email notifications for scheduled polls, upload images without size restrictions, enhanced geofence tracking, the option to reattempt surveys, the option to mandate a password reset, set a time limit for the attendance activity to automatically close, auto-share questions during presentations, and more.

    1. Build Polls and Surveys by Importing CSV Files
      Creators with a personal CSV file of questions can now easily upload it to import their queries into any poll or survey.

    2. Email Notifications for Scheduled Polls
      Course members can be notified via email when a poll is scheduled for release and receive a follow-up reminder when the poll is about to be released.

    3. Upload Images Without Size Restrictions
      We’ve updated Engage to no longer restrict users to a maximum file size when uploading images to questions or the branding page.

    4. Enhanced Geofence Tracking for LMS-Embedded Attendances
      An LMS-embedded attendance will open in a new tab, allowing participants to access their attendance with location tracking enabled.

    5. Participants Can Reattempt Surveys After Completion Based on Creator Settings
      Similar to how Creators can allow multiple poll attempts, they can now grant participants the option to reattempt surveys.

      IT managers can require all users to reset their passwords after 12 months.

    8. View Your Account Information on the Engage Platform
      Engage now offers the option to view your account information from within the platform and options to quickly access settings.

    9. New Gradebook Filters to Sort Results by Participants or Scores
      Creators reviewing activity results can sort the gradebook alphabetically by participants or filter the results based on the scores received by participants.

      We’ve added a new setting that allows Creators to automatically share their questions during presentations instead of manually clicking the “Release” button.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – April 2024

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with the option to share Question Banks, question navigation for participants, select multiple correct answers for Clickable Images, feature parity between the web and desktop app, new settings for activities, and enhanced UI for the Activity Chooser.

     

    1. Share Question Banks With Other Members
      Question Banks can be shared with other members on the Engage platform to allow users to collaborate and quickly create activities.

    2. Complete, Skip, and Return to Previously Unanswered Questions During an Activity
      Participants will have the option to skip to any specific questions they wish to answer. Answered questions will be marked in blue for tracking, and participants can easily return to unanswered questions in their activity with a click of a button.

    3. Select Multiple Correct Answers for Clickable Image Questions
      For Clickable Image questions with more than one correct answer, poll creators can select multiple correct answers.

    4. Feature Alignment Between the Engage Web App and the Desktop App for PowerPoint and Keynote
      We updated the Engage desktop app to include the following features:

      • Create activities within the desktop app for Keynote.
      • Insert Ranking question types.
      • Insert the Attendance activity.

    5. Adjust the Duration of Class Results for Participants
      We have added a new setting that allows creators to customize the duration for which class results are visible to participants after answering each question.

    6. New Countdown Settings When Manually Ending an Activity
      Creators can set a countdown timer to appear when an activity is manually ended, allowing participants to finish without the activity abruptly ending.

    7. Increase the Time Limit for Polls and Questions
      After sharing a poll or an individual question, creators can dynamically adjust the time limit, extending the allotted time participants have to complete the activity.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – “Tampa”

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with geolocation-based attendance tracking, a new Ranking question type, manual grading for all questions, export results for Blackboard and Canvas, edit questions for active polls, embed scheduled polls within the LMS, enhanced SSO security, and enhanced parity between the web and mobile app.

    1. New Geolocation-Based and Code Word-Based Attendance Tracking
      Attendance tracking, particularly useful in educational settings, is a tool designed to confirm the physical presence of students inside classrooms by verifying their location. The results can then be viewed and synced with the LMS gradebook to keep track of attendance.

    2. New Ranking Question Type
      Engage now offers Creators the option to include a Ranking question type for surveys. This new question type will enable participants to express their preferences by ordering options from greatest to least, favorite to least favorite, or any other desired arrangement.

    3. Manual Grading for All Question Types
      Similar to how Engage provides manual grading for short answers, we’ve expanded this capability for all question types. Creators can access the gradebook results for a poll to edit whether the responses given were correct and quickly switch between questions and attempts for each student.

    4. Export Poll Results for Blackboard and Canvas Gradebook Sync
      In cases where a poll was not embedded in the LMS, Creators can download a CSV file of their chosen poll results, which can then be uploaded into their Blackboard or Canvas gradebook. This feature is already supported on Moodle, and our next release will provide D2L Brightspace users with the same capability.
    5. Edit Questions for Activated Polls and Surveys
      When Creators are sharing individual questions with participants for active polls and surveys, they can edit questions on the fly right before release.

    6. Embed Scheduled Polls within the LMS
      Scheduled polls can now be embedded in the LMS for automatic gradebook synchronization.

    7. Enhanced Single Sign-On Security by Allowing Fingerprint Values to Be Assigned
      YuJa Engage ensures secure user logins by providing the option to add a fingerprint value. If one was not added during SSO ADFS integration, it will automatically be assigned once a user logs in for the first time.
    8. Features for the YuJa Engage Mobile App Are Aligned with the Web App
      To provide consistent and reliable features to the mobile app comparable to the web app, we have added and resolved many issues to enhance the overall user experience. Some of these features include the following: participants can view embedded videos, feedback can be provided for polls and surveys, and the inclusion of the ranking question type.

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with a new, more powerful Microsoft PowerPoint Ribbon add-in, fully automated course roster sync for Blackboard, cross-integration with LMS and Sing Sign-On, add questions to activated Polls and Surveys, a streamlined workflow for configuring Poll options, the option to add alt-text to images, and the option for students to provide feedback for instructors to review.


    1. New, More Powerful Microsoft PowerPoint Ribbon Add-in for Poll Creation and Activation
      The new Engage add-in for PowerPoint provides a new dedicated window that allows you to create and edit your Polls and Surveys before seamlessly inserting them into your presentations.

    2. Fully Automated Course Roster Auto-Sync for Blackboard
      We now offer course-level Blackboard Roster Sync, which automatically retrieves all users within a course. Previously, each user had to sign in to Blackboard to be provisioned within Engage.

    3. Deeper Cross-Integration with LMS and Single Sign-On
      IT Managers or instructors signing in to their LMS can now automatically have their course roster synced with Engage. This, in turn, will automatically provision students to their corresponding course within Engage, which allows them to join Polls and Surveys directly with their SSO login.
    4. Add Questions On-the-Fly to Activated Polls and Surveys
      Instructors releasing individual poll or survey questions can now add additional questions on-the-fy to an active poll or survey.

    5. Streamlined Workflow to Configure Poll Options
      We have made it easier to create Polls by separating the configurations for how Polls will be released and placing them within the Poll Release page. Once instructors are ready to release the Poll, they can access options for recording and sending attempts to the LMS.

    6. Create Accessible Polls and Surveys by Providing Alt-Text to Images
      Alt-text can now be provided to images embedded within Polls and Surveys, ensuring content is accessible to individuals reliant on screen readers.

    7. Students Can Provide Feedback to Instructors on Polls and Surveys
      To help instructors improve their Polls and Surveys, students can provide feedback on their satisfaction levels, as well as suggestions to improve the experience.

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with the option to add video content to questions, grade short answer questions with search and filter options, real-time participant results for Polls and Surveys, auto-roster sync for Canvas and D2L Brightpsace, the option to duplicate Polls and Surveys, improved screen reader capabilities and tab navigation, and a refined user experience with new interactive elements.


    1. Engagement Questions Can Include Video Content
      Creators can now add video content to their Poll and Survey questions, allowing participants to view videos before selecting an answer.

    2. Grade Short Answer Questions with Search and Filter Options
      Creators who wish to review and manually grade Short Answer questions will now be presented with a list of participants with options to filter based on correct or incorrect answers.

      For live Polls and Surveys, participant results are now updated in real-time immediately after submission.

      IT Managers and Creators can duplicate their Polls and Surveys to instantly create an additional copy to edit.

      The Engage platform now offers fully narrated text for screen readers to read aloud.

    8. Refined User Experience within Specific Interactive Elements
      We have made several improvements to enhance the usability of Engage across the web and mobile app, such as:

      • New pages to clearly indicate when a Poll has closed or is waiting to be released.
      • Individuals will automatically log in to their respective roles.
      • Updated UI for QR code scanning.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – “Perth” Released to US, CAN, AUS, and EU Zones

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with the option to pre-schedule Poll releases, filtering options for locating Polls and Surveys, and overall enhancements to the platform through element redesigns and bug fixes.

    1. Ability to Pre-Schedule Poll Releases
      We’re enhancing the way Creators can initiate Polls by introducing the option to schedule active Polls. This enables Creators to provide asynchronous Polls that participants can complete within a specified timeframe with the option for gradebook synchronization. To learn more about this feature, please visit our guide on Scheduling Polls for YuJa Engage.

    2. More In-Depth Engagement Analytics
      When sharing polls, Creators can now access the Average Engagement analytic, which displays the percentage of participants who have attempted to answer questions. Furthermore, the Participants Platform panel offers a detailed breakdown of how users access the poll, including their choice of browsers and platforms, such as Windows, Mac, or Mobile.

    3. New Filtering Options for Locating Polls and Surveys
      IT Managers and Creators now have greater precision when locating Polls and Surveys with the help of new filtering options. These options allow users to specify their preferences, such as choosing whether to view Polls or Surveys and selecting whether they are active.

    4. Require Names When Participants Join Anonymously
      Previously, participants joining anonymously were not required to enter a name. In this update, we introduced a setting allowing IT managers and Creators to require participants to enter a name.

    5. Enhanced Design Elements and Text Across the Platform
      To enhance the user experience, we have taken a step toward updating areas of improvement through incremental design elements and text adjustments that can help facilitate ease of navigation across the platform. We encourage IT Managers and Creators to take a look at our new design spacing, buttons, messages, and more.     6. Bug Fixes and Optimizations
      We have optimized the performance of YuJa Engage and made several bug fixes to improve the user experience. Highlighting some of these optimizations and fixes are:

      • Resolved issues with SSO and LTI linkage.
      • Resolved issues with Polls having blank titles.
      • Resolved issues that prevented Poll questions from being shared individually.

    YuJa Engage Student Response System Update – “Oxford” Released to US, CAN, AUS, and EU Zones

    We have successfully pushed an update to all YuJa Engage Student Response System instances residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union. This release provides our users with a new matching question type, a YuJa Engage desktop app for Mac Keynote presentations, and enhancements to the Engage mobile app.

     

    1. New Matching Question Type
      To further expand on our growing list of question types, Engage now offers Creators the option to include matching questions. This new question type prompts Poll Participants to pair items with predetermined options, contributing to a more engaging interactive experience.

    2. YuJa Engage Desktop App for Poll Integration with Apple Keynote
      The YuJa Engage desktop app is now accessible for Mac Keynote to provide users with a seamless Student Response System during live presentations. The app will allow users to integrate individual questions within their Keynote presentations while providing a comprehensive view of corresponding results. The Engage desktop app will be available for download on the App Store in the coming week. We hope you enjoy creating interactive and engaging presentations.

    3. Features for the YuJa Engage Mobile App Are Now Aligned with the Web App
      To provide consistent and reliable features to the mobile app comparable to the web app, we have added and resolved many issues to enhance the overall user experience. Highlighting some of these features are: Word Cloud question type support, Hide correct answers, Thumbs up and thumbs down reactions, as well as resolved issues to allow reattempts.
