    Video Conference Platform – Update RC20210312 Released to All Zones

    We have successfully pushed an update to all Video Conference instances residing in the United States, Canada and the European Union. This release was primarily focused on 25+ internal scalability improvements, performance of key functionality, as well as fixes and product improvements.

    1. Dynamic Recording Pause and Resume

      Ability to Pause and Resume recordings dynamically during a given video conference event. Previously, it was an all-or-nothing recording capability, however now these operations can be performed as needed, as a way to skip the recording of specific sections of the video conference.

    2. Unified Video Conference Entry Screen

      A single entry screen to enter your name, select webcam, and test mic sources makes getting into a meeting easier and faster.

    3. Infrastructure Improvements

      Improved load detection on the server-side as a precursor to more dynamic server assignment of video conference sessions.

    YuJa Panorama for Digital Accessibility – Update RC20210223 Released to All Zones

    We have successfully pushed an update to all Panorama instances residing in the United States, Canada and the European Union.

    1. Updated Institution Reporting User Interface

      The Institution-level report has been updated to provider clearer scorecards, trends indicators, and summaries. Over the upcoming releases, each report and screen will experience a similar update.

    2. Improved Accessibility Checker for Issues That Span Paragraphs
      Improved the accessibility reporting for Microsoft Word documents with improved support for issues that span across the full paragraph.
    3. Other Improvements
      • Accessible formats button now always fetches the latest, most up-to-date alternative formats instead of the latest versions available during the initial page load. Replacing a document now refreshes the page, to display the updated document.
      • Accessibility reports no longer show preview documents without the associated red lines (when applicable).
      • Improved compatibility of Microsoft Word contrast checking.
      • Improved the method of calculating accessibility scores for newly uploaded documents, including fixing the tendency for large and problematic documents to have an unusually high score.

    Enterprise Video Platform – Update RC20210219 Released to EU and CA Zone

    We have successfully pushed an update to all instances residing in the European Union and Canada. Next week, we will perform the same update to United States-based instances.

    1. Video Editor Now Supports Insertion of “Virtual Backgrounds”
      Users can record with any tool within our Capture Portfolio (Hardware, Software, In-Browser or Mobile), a third-party capture tool, or simply upload content and then use the Video Editor to apply a “Virtual Background”. The Video Editor also supports adding different background images to each stream. We will continue to enhance this new capability in two keys ways:

      • Refine the Artificial Intelligence models used to generate the “Virtual Backgrounds”.
      • Continue to scale out the deployment of a newly introduced GPU-Accelerated Processing sub-system (a cluster of more advanced processing infrastructure).

    2. Dedicated GPU-Enabled Adaptive Bitrate Live Streaming Now Available for PC and Apple Capture Applications
      The Live Stream sub-system has been extended to support adaptive bitrate streaming for live streams originating from both the PC and Apple Capture applications. This same capability was recently introduced for live streams originating from our Hardware Capture appliances.

    3. New WebEx Enterprise Connector for Video Conference Content Ingestion
      Similar in function to our Zoom Enterprise Connector, the new WebEx Enterprise Connector enables ingestion of video conference recordings from WebEx video conferences. Based on user feedback, this feature will continue to be customized to support deeper system interconnectivity. Click here to learn more about this capability.

    4. Additional Zoom Connector Integration Options for User Synchronization, Related Metadata Ingestion and More
      The Zoom-to-YuJa integrations has been extended to support new user enrollment options including Manual Enrollment, Self-Enrollment, Bulk Enrollment, and Automatic Enrollment. Further, we added additional features including:

      • Importing the Zoom-generated auto-captioning for use within the Video Platform
      • Improved support for multi-fragmented Zoom recordings when a recording is stopped and resumed within a single meeting
      • Ingestion of meeting poll and chat information

    5. Improved Social Media Connectors for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube
      The Social Media Enterprise Connectors that provide the facility to cross-syndicate video content to social media platforms have been updated to use each platform’s latest APIs. Click here to learn more about this capability.

    6. Video Player Optimizations and Caching Improvements
      The Video Player is now smaller in size, offers faster load times, aligns better with existing caching infrastructure, as well as utilizes the Content Delivery Network for the Video Player’s “front-end script” assets.

    7. Lightweight Button Style to Better Align Video Platform UI with LMS UI
      A new lighter-weight button style enables more natural brand alignment with the Organization’s LMS.

    8. Granular Capabilities to Configure Course Name Provisioning
      Organizations can now design their own course name provisioning template based on the standard LMS fields of Label, Term and Title. This enables Organizations to fully align Video Platform course names with their existing LMS course provisioning structure. Click here to learn more about this capability.

    9. Improved Support for East Asian Language Character Sets in Search-Filter and Drop-Down Menus
      Based on a review of incompatible UI elements, the filtering capabilities were improved to better support East Asian language character sets.

    10. New Gradient Top Bar Style Branding Option
      A new gradient Top Bar styling provides added customization and styling options. All existing Top Bar color options are retained.

    11. Improved Live Streaming Performance in Low Bandwidth Scenarios
      The Live Streaming capabilities have been bolstering to better support live streaming in lower bandwidth scenarios including where the Internet quality fluctuates or experiences longer latencies.
    12. Media Library Thumbnail Now Shows Recording Status for Live Streamed Sessions
      Now the Media Library overlay shows the current recording, uploading, and processing states for live stream sessions just as it already does for non-live recordings.

    13. Offline Download Availability Can Now Be Limited to In-App Downloads Only
      Content Owners can now limit offline downloading of content to only YuJa’s native iOS and Android mobile apps. This balances the viewer’s desire for flexible viewing options with the Content Owner’s concern with maintaining secure digital rights management.

    14. Institution-Wide Auto-Publish Delay Now Provides Time-Based Granularity
      Organizations using the delayed auto-publishing capability for auto-scheduled sessions can now specify a specific time at which the recording is made available to the published Media Channel. Click here to learn more about this capability.

    1. Reports and Configuration Now Available Within New LTI-based Application

    2. New Blackboard Plugin for Easier Installation
      The Blackboard installation steps just got easier with the release of a YuJa Panorama Visualization Plugin for Blackboard. This capability also adds an additional layer of security and integrity checks. Please contact your Customer Success Manager for updated installation steps.
    3. New Configuration Panel within LTI-based Application
      Added ability to view the latest Visualization version, with the corresponding integrity hash on the Configuration panel.

    Video Conference Platform – Update RC20210201 Released to All Zones

    We have successfully pushed an update to all Video Conference instances residing in the United States, Canada and the European Union. This release was primarily focused on 50+ internal scalability improvements, performance of key functionality, as well as fixes and product improvements.

    1. Increased Maximum Video Boxes to 12

      The total number of simultaneous individuals on video has been increased to 12 alongside up to 200+ attendees. We will continue to increase this capability within the Video Conference Platform over the coming months.

    2. Who’s Talking Indicator

      Any persons with active and consistent audio signals will now have a green outline shown within their video box.

    3. Unified Video Conferencing Entry Screen

      As part of a process to turn the two-step entry-screen to a one-step one, we simplified the screen UI with options to join a video conference directly on the entry screen. Relevant media source toggling, preview, and phone dial-in are available within the unified panel.

    4. Mute While Taking Warning

      When a participant is talking while muted, an on-screen message will now appear letting them know that they are muted.

    5. Improved Participant Labeling. No-Video View, and Landscape Video Boxes

      We now offer a more space efficient and participant labeling along with a wider-aspect ratio for participant video boxes.

    Software Capture for Apple (v5.0.0) Released to All Geographic Zones

    We have released a new Software Capture for Apple version (version v5.0.0) to all instances located in the United States, Canada and the European Union. This releases contains over 75+ features and improvements. The highlights are summarized below.

    1. Support for Up to 6 Simultaneous Audio, Screen or Video Sources
      Ability to record from multiple sources simultaneously, including up to two video sources, two audio sources and two screen sources in a single recording.
    2. Improved Recording Toolbar with Audio-Level Bars
      Matching the PC-based Software Capture, the Apple Capture now has a new Recording Toolbar which also provides integrated audio-level bars.
    3. Integrated Stream Upload Progress Indicators with Estimated Time and Bandwidth Speed
      After a recording, an Upload Status bar will appear providing accurate upload status information as your recording streams upload to the cloud-hosted Video Platform. Additionally, the estimated completion time and current connection speed are also added.
    4. Installer Provides Error Message When Attempting to Install on Non-Compatible macOS
      We moved the minimum OS version message to the installer rather than the application file itself.
    5. Dozens of Newly Audit Logged Events Including Full State Tracking of In-Progress Recording Uploads
      Administrators and our Support Staff can now view the upload progress of videos, along with dozens of newly logged audit events.
    6. Proctoring Sessions Now Show Upload Progress Just Like Regular Recordings
      Just like regular recordings, proctored sessions now show the upload progress, as well as an extra reminder to not turn off your computer.
    7. Streamlined Organization Search and Login Workflow
      The sign-in process has been streamlined with improved Organization search, a facility to auto-detect and pre-configure the user’s organization, and pre-selection of the Single Sign On login method.
    8. Ability to Preset the Default Profile
      Users can now establish what the Default Profile for a given Software Capture installation should be.

    Software Capture for PC (v10.10.0) Released to All Geographic Zones

    We have released a new Software Capture for PC version (version v10.10.0) to all instances located in the United States, Canada and the European Union.

    1. New On-Screen Annotation Toolbar Available for Recorded and Live Events
      A new Annotation Toolbar is now integrated into the Software Capture application. This Annotation Toolbar provides the ability to perform time-synchronized on-screen annotations, highlights, and freehand sketches in both recorded and live streamed scenarios.
    2. Ability to Edit Out the Recording Toolbar to Make It Disappear Within the Final Video
      A pair of features with the Software Capture for PC application in conjunction with the Video Editor now provides the ability to make the Recording Toolbar disappear from the screen it was recorded on.
    3. Enhanced IP Camera Support by Adding NDI Protocol Support

    4. “New Version” Notification and the Ability to Update the Application Directly within the Application
      The Software Capture application now provides an indicator when a new version is available. Additionally, integrated into the application is an installer that will download and install the latest version.
    5. Streamlined Organization Search and Login Workflow

    6. Improved Low Storage Space Indicator and Warning Messaging
      In instances where the computer may be low on storage space, an indicator will be provided to the user as well as warning notifications.

      The COVID-19 situation precipitates a need to improve compatibility with a new host of applications including VPNs and anti-virus software. Based on customer feedback, we have reviewed and collaborated with a host of third-party vendors to improve compatibility.
    8. Improved Framerate and Resolution compatibility with Logitech Cameras
      The Software Capture application now offers improved capability with several popular Logitech cameras including C920, C930e and VD0360 models.
    9. Detection of Anti-Virus Quarantine Scenarios
      In situations where a third-party anti-virus software quarantines a component of the YuJa Software Capture for PC, a message will appear indicating that the Software Capture application may not be able to perform in a normal fashion.

      Content Owners can now share access to a Video Quiz to other editors. This heavily requested feature enables new collaboration workflows including the ability for Instructional Designers to pre-create quizzes on behalf of instructions and then share the resultant video and quiz. Through Q1 of 2021, we will continue to further refine this workflow.

    5. Ability to Insert a Video In-Situ into an Existing Multi-Source Recording without Overwriting Existing Timeline
      The Video Editor’s Insert Video capability now offers a “Current Time- Insert” (without Override) for multi-stream videos. This enhances the “Current-Time – Insert” that was previously only available for single-stream videos.     6. Better Highlighting of Active and Selected Video and Folders
      A smaller “fit-and-finish” improvement to My Media provides a better indicator of the active or selected media.

    7. Improved Media Details User Interface
      The Media Details interface offers a cleaner design with dozens of minor UI fixes and improvements.

    8. Refreshed IMS Re-certifications for all LTI Enterprise Connectors
      We finalized the annual re-certification and compliance of all our LTI-based Enterprise Connectors including our LTI 1.1, LTI 1.3, LTI Advantage, and IMS Caliper integrations with the IMS Global standards organization.
    9. Ability to Disable Auto-Captioning for Specific Zoom-Mapped Users
      As part of a staggered roll-out of 20+ features in Q1 of 2021 focused on new Zoom capabilities and improvements, today we added the ability to selectively enable auto-captioning for a specific user’s content ingestion.     10. New Notification When Human Captioning Requests Have Been Fulfilled

      In instances where a current browser or screen-level magnification exists on the user’s computer, the improved waveform rendering of the audio waveform, reduced instances where it appears unsynchronized with the absolute time-codes.

    Enterprise Video Platform – Mid-Cycle Update RC20201113 Released to All Zones

    We have successfully pushed a mid-cycle update to all instances residing in the United States, Canada, and the European Union. This release is focused on increased scalability and performance as we look to 2021 with the need to even further scale-up infrastructure.

    1. Improved Cloud-Side Performance of Device Monitoring within Admin Panel and Visual Analytics Suite

      With the increased load came a more definitive need to further optimize the Devices tab within the Admin Panel, as well as the Visual Analytics suite.

    2. Deployed Infrastructure to Move Static Asset Delivery to the Global Content Delivery Networks (Will Be Enabled Iteratively Within Video Platform Instances)

      To improve global performance of Video Platform static asset resource loading (images, CSS files, etc.), this has been moved off our AWS-side infrastructure and now will load via the Content Delivery Networks. This will reduce page load times, as well as reduce sever load. This functionality will be deployed iteratively through Q4 to customer instances.

    3. Resolved Rare Issues Which Could Stall Loading of Notifications Panel within the Admin Panel

      Deployed improvements to the Notifications tab that resolved rare issues which could cause the Notifications data to stall when being loaded.

    4. Added API for Hardware Hubs to Be Remotely Auto Started

      The original API call did not adequately address auto-starts to devices without Profile IDs. Now, an API is available to auto-start 2U and 1U Hardware Hubs.
