Enterprise Video Platform – Update RC20200724 Released to All Zones
Canadian Zones European Union Zones General Platform Media Management United States Zones Video EditorWe have successfully pushed an update to all instances residing in the United States, Canada and the European Union.
- Audit Log Subscriptions with Subscription Management Capabilities
Administrators can now create email subscriptions to specific Audit Log events. These events are sent in real-time to the specific users or email aliases. This enables scenarios such as a Device Sub-Administrator setting up subscriptions to be informed of all Device-level alerts for low-audio and auto-scheduling error.
- Additional Auto-Captioning Languages
The Video Platform now supports Automatic Captioning (ASR) in the following languages: English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Japanese, Hindi, Turkish, Thai, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean.
- Improvements to Zoom Enterprise Connector
The Zoom Connector now permits ingestion of password-protected and host-only content. Additionally, organizations with multiple Video Platform instances can now simultaneously integrate the same Zoom enterprise account into multiple Video Platform instances. - Improved Localization of Date and Time Formats
The Video Platform’s Branding tab now supports the ability to use either a Day/Month/Year or Year/Month/Day format.
- Canvas Native Integration for Non-LTI Automatic Course Provisioning, User Creation, and Roster Sync
Complementing the IMS-certified LTI integration, the Video Platform now offers native Canvas synchronization. This native API-level capability pre-populates the Video Platform with LMS-side entities without the need for an LTI launch event. The course, user and roster entities are then continually updated to match their corresponding Canvas-side entity. For information on this capability, visit the YuJa Knowledgebase Article.
- Smaller Media Now Uploads Via Multi-Part Upload
Multi-part Upload was originally implemented for larger (500MB+) content. Now the robustness of this implementation, including the ability to permit uploads to withstand intermittent or temporary Internet connection interruptions, is now available for smaller media files. - YuJa Pro Captioning Now Supports Spanish Human Captioning
Organizations using the YuJa Pro Captioning can now human-caption their content in Spanish. - Improved Performance of Media Player When Large Number of Video Embeds
The load-time and performance requirements of the Media Player has been improved to better support situations where a large number of videos are embedded into a single LMS or webpage. - Improved Video Editor’s Video Insertion
Improved robustness of video insertion into an existing video in situations where: 1) the video being inserted is a silent video or, 2) the slide or image is being inserted at the last second of the video. - Ability to Automatically Perform Auto-Captioning (ASR) Directly into Preferred Language
For organizations that would like to perform ASR in a non-English language by default, the Video Platform now provides the ability to specify their preferred default.

Canadian and European Union Instances – Enterprise Video Platform RC20200424 Released
Analytics Canadian Zones European Union Zones General Platform HTML5 Video Conferencing Video Editor Video QuizzesWe have successfully released an update of the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform to all instances in the European Union and Canada. A corresponding release will be deployed to United States instances in one week.
- Video Lifecycle Management with New Data Retention and Data Policy Management Tools
Administrators have new tools to manage data retention including the ability to create data policies. Policies can be created with customizable rules including identifying unused data, older content, and specific content types. When executing policies, Administrators can review matching data, preview content, purge content, as well as aggregate it into an Archive Folder. In future releases, we intend to provide tools to offload Archive Folders onto offsite or AWS-side storage locations. We encourage you to try your data management workflows and provide us with feedback on future improvements you would like to see.
- New Auto-Captioning Engine with Better Accuracy and Room Acoustic Models
The Video Platform now provides a new auto-captioning engine that offers higher-quality auto-captioning. This auto-captioning engine also operates better in larger lecture halls and in situations where the microphone may be further away from the speaker. We encourage you to enable Model A in your organization’s Admin Panel and try it out for yourself.
- Video Editor Now Provides Clearer Indication of Trimmed Captions
The Video Editor provides an easier interface to edit captions while simultaneously making trims and cuts to the video (which naturally affects the caption time-points). The new Video Editor interface includes a color indicator showing which caption entries will be removed, which will have an invalid timestamp (post edit), and which ones will remain valid.
- Increased the Maximum Video Size to 1TB
By default, all Video Platform instances now have a maximum single file size of 1TB. For a basis of comparison, that’s about the combined size of two hundred and fifty, full-length HD movies.
- User Interface Improvements to Browser Capture Studio
Updates to the Browser-based Capture Studio include improvements to the compatibility across web browsers, minor improvements to the capture workflow, and better messaging once a recording is complete. - New Media Chooser Behavior for Blackboard and Moodle Students
The Media Chooser is once again useable by student roles. Following changes to Blackboard and Moodle’s security model, student roles were unable to embed content. Now, the Video Platform will detect the role and place a permitted link into the chosen LMS region. - Sub-Organization Now Supports Auto-Provisioning of Shared Folders
Organization Management capabilities now include the ability for sub-organization creation to automatically create a Shared Folder matching the hierarchy of the Sub-Organization structure. - Performance Improvements to UI Screens Displaying and Filtering Large Volumes of Users
Several web application screens which had slightly sluggish behavior when filtering against ten-of-thousands of users has been improved. This included the Link Users within the Zoom Enterprise Connector and the Admin Panel’s Overview and Roster tabs. - Pre-Quiz Error Messaging to Quiz Takers with Browser Settings That Prevent LMS Gradebook Sync
Users who are likely to have browsers or browser settings – such as disabling third-party cookies – that could prevent LMS Gradebook synchronization of quiz results will now see an in-context LMS message preventing quiz entry. This is aimed at reducing the chances that a student takes an LMS-embedded quiz without being able to transmit the resulting quiz grade to the LMS Gradebook.
- HTML5 Video Conference Now Has Improved Screen-Reader Support
A minor update to the Video Conference web application interface addressed a number of screen-reader issues related to missing alt-text for UI components.

United States Zone – Semi-Monthly RC20181123 Released
General Platform Live Streaming Media Management United States Zones Video EditorWe have successfully pushed an update to all physical zones residing in the United States. Please note that this release will be pushed to Canadian zones next week. This release includes over 100+ new features and improvements.
- “Share with Users” Capability Now Supports Ad-Hoc Folder-Level Sharing – The Share button is now also enabled for folders. Previously, a pre-created shared folder was needed to share content at the folder level. Now, simply select Share Folder within the More Actions menu.
- Ability to Grab the Direct Link and Embed Code to a Media Channel – Content aligned to a Media Channel – most often used as playlists linked to an LMS course – can now be embedded or shared via a direct link to the content. This offers Content Owners flexibility in sharing and sending content aligned to an LMS-linked playlist.
- Shared Folders Now Offer Pre-Generated Embed and Direct Links – Folders within an organization’s Shared Folders now can be shared externally with pre-generated direct link and embed codes.
- Video Editor Top-Bar Offers More Relevant Actions – When users are in the video editor, the primary actions shown in the Top Navigation Bar are now change to Save and Close buttons.
- Video Editor’s Cut Operations Now Offers Improved Play-Head Alignment and Fine Tuning Ability – We re-tooled some the trim operations to offer the ability to establish more accurate cut operations. This is achieved with the following sub-capabilities:
- Playhead and accompanying timestamp will move when trimming the start or end.
- During a trim, set the trim to the playhead when performing a trim-head operation.
- Clicking on an cut opens up a dialog to manually set the edit time.
- Improved Live Stream Synchronization on Both Software and Hardware Platforms – After months of research, we are introducing server-side, time-stamp synchronization that should improve multi-source, live stream synchronization when using either our hardware appliance or desktop-based software applications. Our research indicates that there are two key ways to ensure source synchronization. The first is to “fuse” the streams together during the encoding process and transmit them as a unified stream. Alternatively, we believe our server-side, time-stamping algorithm offers the ability to retain the benefits of true multi-source live streaming while improving the synchronization of streams. We encourage you to provide your feedback on how this algorithm dynamically adjusts – typically after a minute of streaming – to improve the live stream source synchronization during an active live stream.
- Additional Obfuscation of Content Embedded with LTI Deep Linking – Content that is embedded using the CIM-enabled Deep Linking protocol now will perform an additional security check based on the user PID. This helps prevent potentially skimming of content from the HTML code.
- Improved the Front-End Caching Layer When Moving Media Between Folders – We optimized the caching layer by performing a selective cache bypass, in some cases, to avoid getting stale data.
- Hardware Hub Improvements Related to Delayed Start Setting on Device Signals – We now offer the ability to have the Delay Start setting as enabled-by-default, as well as improved video playback robustness in situations where a particular video signal is never present for the entire recording session.
- Improved Zoom API Integration – We implemented a targeted set of changes to improve Zoom integration, status notifications, as well as minor updates to the Admin Panel’s Zoom Connector UI.
- “Share with Users” Capability Now Supports Ad-Hoc Folder-Level Sharing – The Share button is now also enabled for folders. Previously, a pre-created shared folder was needed to share content at the folder level. Now, simply select Share Folder within the More Actions menu.
